ADMINISTRATIVE AND PRACTICLE RESPONSIBILITIES by maintaining a safe and stable environment for the staff and pt’s., accepting responsibility for receiving medications from the pharmacy, counting and maintaining narcotics, passing meds., dressing changes, admissions, transfers, and discharges, assist the medical team when necessary in all situations, be able to identify emergency situations and report accordingly, assist the DON and RN’s when necessary.


  • Graduation from an NLN approved nursing school

  • Considerable knowledge/experience in nursing philosophy, policy, practices, procedures.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire

  • Crisis Management within 30 days of hire

  • Licensed to practice as a LPN in the state of North Carolina

  • Knowledge of chemical dependency and dual diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:

  • Develops and maintains accurate nursing schedules (daily, weekly, monthly)

  • Assists in collecting nursing PI data

  • Conducts rounds on patients

  • Provides direct nursing care according to physician orders

  • Provides nursing care in conformance with established standards and nursing policies

  • Performs accurate initial nursing assessment cosigned by RN

  • Performs accurate ongoing nursing assessment

  • Notifies physician of significant changes in the patient

  • Documents complete nursing progress notes

  • Educates patient on medical tests, procedures, medication, and other items as appropriate

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and practices universal precautions

  • Utilizes correct hand-washing techniques

  • Accurately administers medications in all forms (oral, respiratory, injections, etc)

  • Maintains accurate inventory of controlled substances

  • Correctly performs dressing changes as needed

  • Provides direction and leadership in patient care to assigned personnel

  • Responds therapeutically to inappropriate patient behaviors

  • Administers oxygen per facility policy

  • Report off and notify charge nurse before leaving the treatment center

  • Update and maintain medication reconciliation sheet

  • Complete MD contact follow up form if MD is called

  • Accurately performs Venipuncture as required

  • Complete and maintain infection control log

  • Read and sign communications book daily

  • Adheres to company policy regarding organ donation and procurement

  • Complete mandatory Essential Learning on-line training

  • Complete Safe Injection Training

  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient self-administering medications Policy

  • All other duties as assigned
